I grew up in a Christian home. Though I would say I believed, I didn’t have a real relationship with Jesus early on. Many of my early struggles in life were the result of my own perfectionism and performance striving, which was never good enough and left me feeling empty and unsatisfied. When I finally let go of control and surrendered my life to Jesus Christ around the age of 16, I was freed to see that my identity was NOT in my performance or what others thought about me, but it was in my identity as a loved child of God. It was a process for me to learn that my identity was Firmly rooted in HIM and HIS LOVE FOR ME. When I experienced the life changing love and forgiveness that Jesus offered me, I decided to surrender my life to him and follow him. Jesus calls broken, unworthy, sinful, and hopeless people like me to a new life. Following Jesus doesn't mean you will have a perfect life. In fact, the Bible tells us that if we follow Him, we're going to have hardships and struggles. But there is nothing greater than knowing Him and being on team Jesus. Never be afraid to ask hard questions about God and seek answers to those questions. College is a great time to do so and there are many groups on campus that can help you think deeply about your questions. Search for those answers with an open heart. “If you seek him, he will be found by you” (1 Chronicles 28:9). I love meeting and having discussions with students on spiritual matters so please reach out if I can help you on your spiritual journey or be a listening ear.
