Jeni McMillin

I have been teaching at Collin College for seven years. Before that, I had a few other "careers". My first job after I graduated from college was a position as a Systems Engineer (computer programmer). After three years, I moved to East Africa with my husband who worked as a missionary bush pilot for eleven years. While in Africa, I continued to use my computer skills and learned many other useful skills such as how to live without power, phones, internet, and a consistent water supply. We moved backed to Texas in 2001 and my husband started a career as a commercial pilot and I pursued additional graduate degrees in Reading Education and English. During my graduate educational pursuits, I taught in an alternative high school setting for twelve years and then transitioned to teach at the community college level. That is who I am in terms of my skills and accomplishments, but those things are not what define me or the choices I have made and will make in the future. I became a Christian at the age of 9 and from the moment of that decision, my Christian faith has been foundational in forming my perception of myself and of others. Unfortunately, I am an imperfect human and I am not always gracious and understanding in all situations. Jesus loved to hang out with the "unconventionals" of his time and I would love to follow His example. I continue to educate myself and grow in the areas of understanding, accepting and celebrating people who have different world views and values than I do. Maybe you can help me in my educational pursuits! I love working in the college environment and hanging out with students. The best moments are the opportunities I have to get to know students' lives outside of the classroom. I hope that you will be that student in the upcoming months!

My Life

Favorite Quote

Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:17-21
