I have been at NC State University since 2003. I am originally from Carlisle, Pennsylvania. After obtaining my undergrad degree in accounting and economics, I worked for Deloitte for about five years. In 1999, I started my PhD studies. I teach undergraduate classes in Assurance and Audit Services and my research focuses on professional skepticism, data analytics, and fraud detection. I live in Raleigh, NC with my wife Kyla Brazel and our two daughters Abby and Caroline. I have found my faith to grow slowly year by year. In my early years, I may have gone to church once a month. Later, I experienced God's love for us by saying a prayer every night. Now I pray to the Lord several times a day and take 15-20 minutes mid-day or after work to read the Bible and have a devotion. I put in God's hands the things I worried about in the past and I have more peace (and a lot less anxiety!) in my life now that I have found God.
