Jesus rescued me from the confining mindset that I can only wear one hat at a time. He calls me to a liberated life grounded in the truth that I am His brother and co-heir with Him in the kingdom of God. Jesus is my friend, captain, and my King. By following Jesus I have the privilege of becoming the Christian, the husband, the father, the son, the educator, and the servant He calls me to be. And yet there is even more freedom because of Jesus! When I struggle to become what Jesus is calling me to be I know that I do not have to "get it right" the first time. Jesus' forgiveness rescues me from the fear of failure and the tyranny of perfectionism. The Holy Spirit continues to rescue me daily as He reminds me of these truths.
