Since childhood, I’ve been an avid reader, always with a book in hand and a growing list of titles to tackle. This love for reading and a curiosity about how things work laid the foundation for my career in science. However, this journey came with its struggles, especially as I grappled with reconciling my beliefs with my academic pursuits. Growing up in a Catholic family, attending Mass almost every Sunday was part of the routine. It was our family's way of introducing me to Christian values. In my teenage years, I went along with it but didn't fully embrace it. I often had questions and doubts, which led my aunt to label me as an atheist. It wasn’t until my early twenties that I began to explore a deeper connection with God. My grandmothers played a crucial role during this period. They stood by me, patiently listening and supporting me through my toughest questions about faith. They were loving and understanding, never pushing me to believe but always there to provide a safe space for my doubts. At the time, I was deeply immersed in studying physics and science, and faith seemed at odds with my academic interests. Their support and patience during this time were invaluable, even though I don’t remember all their answers. The turning point came during a particularly difficult period in my life when a friend gave me a small reflection book. It contained 30 days of Bible verses and stories. Reading this book at night, even though the stories didn’t directly address my personal struggles, provided a sense of clarity and comfort. It was this small gesture that helped me reconnect with my faith in a meaningful way. Since then, I've made it a habit to randomly open the Bible, read a verse, and reflect on it. This practice has strengthened my faith and helped me stay true to my values. My understanding of faith continued to evolve as I began my graduate studies. I was still navigating my path when I joined a group that felt like a pivotal moment in my spiritual journey. This group provided guidance and support, contributing significantly to my growth. I’m grateful for those who helped me see that pursuing science and nurturing faith are not mutually exclusive but can enrich one another.
