My name is Nancy Grant and I have been teaching nursing at UNCW for 10 years. I am a nurse, it is a part of my DNA, and I cannot imagine a greater career both at the bedside caring for patients and in the classroom caring for students. I have had so many blessings in my life, more than I can count, and God has lead me daily in my life. Most of the time I am not aware of it until later. I am not one of those people who "always" wanted to be a nurse, I never did. As a senior in high school I had no idea what I wanted and a friend convinced me to apply to nursing school with her "since you have no plan anyway". I did, with the rule that I had to get accepted by a certain day or I would do something else. I got my acceptance letter on that deadline day! This career has been a Blessing for me and I can't imagine ever doing anything else. That is just ONE example of God leading me. My husband and I moved to NC in 2005. We left two children in Ohio with no expectations of grandchildren. Since that time our son has followed us and our daughter and son-in-law have stubbornly stayed in Ohio, and by the way produced two beautiful granddaughters. I have to say I wondered if God was busy the day HE let us move to NC and away from our future grandchildren. Of course He knew what He was doing as I have an amazing long distance relationship with these girls and we have great conversations, via Skype, and I am not sure that we would have that if we were in the same town. (Thank God for Skype) I LOVE my family, nursing, my students and my God! What a Blessed life to have!
