I have always enjoyed understanding how things work. It is how I am wired. Early in life I did not have a clear direction for a career path, but pursued engineering because it seemed to fit me. I learned a lot about how the world is designed and how it works. Once I started making my own money, I became interested in Finance and really wanted to understand financial incentives and investing. The more I pursued these interests, the more I became aware of and intrigued by the role of human incentives in financial decision making. I found this intriguing because what the world saw as a dilemma of how to create contracts or incentives to get people to act in the right way, was completely consistent with the world view I had been taught since I was young. In addition to understanding the physical world around me, I have always wanted to understand what else there is, the Spiritual component of life. I grew up in a home that taught me about God and about the Fall of Man and about Jesus. When I was seven, a godly family friend, explained to me that God created me and loved me, but because I had made mistakes and He was perfect, I could not be in His presence and that the price of my mistakes was separation from God – spiritual death. Fortunately, because of God’s love for me, He sent His Son to pay the price for my mistakes so that through faith, I could accept His gift of grace and have His Son’s death pay the price for my mistakes. A few days later I decided to accept this gift from God and to put my faith in what Jesus did for me. Later in life, I began to think more about this commitment I had made and I began to think about other alternative explanations for what I was seeing and learning about the world around me and about myself. The more I thought on why things were the way they were, the more I realized that the best explanation for what I saw in people and in the world around me, and in myself, was that expressed in the Bible. As I continue to experience life, relationships and observe the world around me and my own actions and thoughts, I am continually convinced that the Bible offers the best explanation and understanding for what I see in the world around me and in myself.
