Stephanie Sims

My name is Stephanie Sims, I graduated from Liberty University with my BSN in 2003. I began my career as a new graduate nurse in a Medical Surgical ICU at a level-one trauma center. This is where I spent the first five years of my career learning from some of the most amazing nurses. I decided to start travel nursing in 2008 and I traveled along the east and west coasts for six years. Travel nursing brought me to Wilmington, NC where I took an assignment in the Surgical Trauma ICU. My ICU experience includes medical, surgical, neuro, trauma, cardiac and cardiovascular specialties. I completed my master’s degree in nursing with a concentration in Education in 2014. Currently, I am an Instructor in the Clinical Track at UNCW. Simulation is a huge passion of mine. It is an effective teaching modality that can enhance learning. I am a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE). I teach and coordinate clinical for Adult Health II and genuinely enjoy seeing students apply their knowledge from class during clinical and simulation. I grew up in Northern Va in a loving Christian home. I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior at the age of eight. My faith has continued developed and strengthen over the years through spending time in prayer and studying God’s word. Life has not always been easy but God has been faithful in all things, and I am abundantly blessed by His grace and mercy in my life. I struggle with worry and self- doubting but I always go back to God's promise from Matthew 6:33 to seek Him first and all these things will be added to you. I moved to Wilmington in 2013 and consider it my home as it is where I met my husband in 2017. We have an almost 4 year old son and enjoy spending time with our family and friends. My hobbies include reading and traveling. "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13
