My name is Stephanie Sims, and I graduated from Liberty University with my BSN in 2003. I began my nursing career in the Medical-Surgical ICU at a level-one trauma center, where I spent five formative years learning from exceptional nurses and developing a strong foundation in critical care. In 2008, I transitioned into travel nursing, spending six years working along the East and West coasts. Travel nursing ultimately brought me to Wilmington, NC, where I accepted an assignment in the Surgical Trauma ICU. Over the years, my ICU experience has grown to include medical, surgical, neuro, trauma, cardiac, and cardiovascular specialties. I completed my MSN with a concentration in Education in 2014 and currently serve as a Clinical Instructor at UNCW. Simulation education is one of my greatest professional passions, as it provides an engaging and effective way to enhance student learning. I am a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) and coordinate clinical and simulation experiences for Adult Health. One of the greatest joys of teaching is watching students apply what they have learned in the classroom to real‑world scenarios. I grew up in Northern Virginia in a loving Christian home and accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior at the age of eight. My faith has continued to deepen through prayer and studying God’s Word. While life has brought its share of challenges, God has been faithful, and I feel abundantly blessed by His grace and mercy. When worry or self-doubts arise, I return to the promise in Matthew 6:33: “Seek first the kingdom of God . . . and all these things will be added to you.” I moved to Wilmington in 2013 and quickly grew to love the area. Here, I met my husband in 2017, and we now have a wonderful son who is almost six. We enjoy spending time with family and friends, and in my free time, I love reading and traveling.
