I was raised in Shelby NC. I was surrounded by and was a Baptist. My Grandmother was my vision to and of Christ in how she lived her life and how she shared her faith with her family.
My dad was a rock throughout my childhood and while I can’t claim to hold all of the conservative views he does, I am very proud to say that he taught me much about being a Christian, father, and husband. My wife is also a strong Christian influence in my life. I am thankful to have married a beautiful Christian woman!!
I am a science educator, who through many years of schooling, has grown passionate about science and religion discussions, has become more liberal in my political views (I am not a Republican), and has found my Christian faith to be the constant in my life.
The closest articulation that resonates with how I have come to understand science and religion can be found in Francis Collins, The Language of God. My faith is not like all other Christian Evangelicals that I know, but there are foundational similarities (Belief in Christ, Reliance, and a Relationship with Christ).
I love my family, career/job, and life and want to be sure that I am constantly focused on being the person I know I can be. I also want to be sure that I am continually in a place where my ideas are challenged and strengthened.
Most recently this has occurred in a weekly early morning Bible study with other Christian Faculty at USU. I feel very blessed!
